1. Data We Collect

CompareAnyContent is designed to collect as little data as possible. Here is a complete list of what may be collected:

• Text input: When you use the Text Compare tool, your text is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. It is never transmitted to our servers.
• Uploaded files: When you use the PDF, DOCX, PPTX, Excel, Image, or ZIP comparison tools, files are uploaded to our server for processing. They are held in memory only, used to generate the comparison result, and then immediately deleted. We do not write uploaded files to disk or retain them in any database.
• Server logs: Our web server may log standard HTTP request information (IP address, browser type, referring URL, timestamp, pages visited) for security monitoring and performance analysis. These logs are rotated and deleted regularly.
• Contact form submissions: If you contact us via the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide in order to respond to your enquiry.

2. How We Handle Your Files

When you upload a file for comparison, the following process occurs:

• The file is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
• Our server reads the file in memory, extracts the text or pixel content needed for comparison, and generates the diff result.
• The result is returned to your browser.
• The uploaded file data is immediately garbage-collected. No copy is retained.

We strongly recommend not uploading files containing sensitive personal data, confidential business information, or classified material — not because we store it, but as a general best practice with any online tool.

3. Cookies & Tracking

CompareAnyContent itself does not set any first-party tracking cookies. We do not use analytics platforms such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel.

However, the following third-party cookies may be set by services we use:

• Google AdSense: Google uses cookies to serve relevant advertisements. See the Advertising section below for full details.

You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Note that disabling cookies may affect the display of advertisements on the site.

4. Google AdSense Advertising

CompareAnyContent uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense is a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC.

By using CompareAnyContent, you acknowledge that:

• Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to collect data about your browsing behaviour in order to serve interest-based (personalised) advertisements.
• Google's advertising cookies (such as IDE and DSID) may be set by Google's doubleclick.net domain.
• Google may use this data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or the NAI opt-out page.

We do not share any personally identifiable information with Google AdSense beyond what is collected automatically through cookies as described above.

5. AI Analysis & Third Parties

The optional AI Analysis panel (tone, semantics, spelling) transmits your comparison text to a third-party AI provider over HTTPS. The provider depends on how the site is configured:

• Ollama (local): No data leaves your server environment.
• Groq: Subject to Groq's Privacy Policy.
• Google Gemini: Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

If AI analysis is not configured, the panel is hidden and no text is ever sent to a third party.

6. Data Retention

• Uploaded files: Zero retention. Discarded immediately after processing.
• Server access logs: Retained for up to 30 days for security purposes, then deleted.
• Contact form messages: Retained for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, typically no longer than 12 months.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Request access to personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
• Object to or restrict processing of your personal data.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

CompareAnyContent is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of CompareAnyContent after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
